Chapter 7 – Snowwoman?

“Duck!” You threw the flaming blanket in his direction. He did as you said and ducked, the blanket hitting the wolves. They tumble back, as you pull the rope closer to the sled.

“You could have set me on fire!” You reach out for Ivan’s outstretched hand, pulling him back into the sled.

“But I didn’t.” Toris cried out, interrupting your conversation. You both look over to see a massive gorge ahead. “Get ready to jump, Toris!”

“You do not tell him what to do!” Ivan shoves a satchel into your arms, before scooping you up, traditional princess style. “I do!”

He tosses you forward onto Toris, who you gripped onto for dear life. You heard a click and looked back to see Ivan unhook Toris’ harness to the sled.

“Jump now, Toris!” Toris jumped the gorge, you on his back. Seconds later, you safely land on the other side of the gorge. You get off and look over to see Ivan gripping onto the edge of the gorge, beginning to slip. He claws at the snow hopelessly, as you quickly tie the rope around his pick-axe and then toss it over. He has no time to react, as he grabs onto it.

“Pull, Toris! Pull!” You wrap the rope around Toris, and you and he pull Ivan to safety. Once out of danger, Ivan rolls onto his back, exhausted.  You peek over the edge at the burning sled. Ivan groans as you look down. “.... I’ll replace your sled and everything in it… And I understand if you don’t want to help me anymore.

Toris walks over and “converses” with Ivan. You look around, totally lost and glance back to see a much happier Toris and Ivan standing up.

“Hold up. We are coming!” Ivan said simply, brushing the snow off his clothes.

“You are?!” You asked excited, before catching yourself. “I mean, sure. I’ll let you tag along.”

~

You, Ivan, and Toris carefully walk on the narrow rim of a mountain. As you all began to step out of the thick trees, something below catches your eye.

“Arendelle…” You mumble.

“It is completely frozen.” Ivan commented.

“...But it’ll be fine. Elizabeta will thaw it.” You reassured.

“Will she?” Ivan looked at you, unsure.

“...Yeah. Now come on. This way to the North Mountain?” You pointed unsurely, straight ahead.

“More like this way.” He chuckled, pointing his finger up towards a perilous mighty mountain.

“Well, crap…”

~

You all walk beneath frozen willows, the hanging branches glistening like Christmas lights. Toris’ antlers hit them, making them tinkle like chimes.

“I never knew winter could be so beautiful.”

“YEAH... It really is beautiful, isn’t it? But it’s so white. You know, how about a little color? Must we bleach the joy out of it all? I’m thinking like maybe some crimson, chartreuse-“ You jump at the new voice and look around for the source. You look to Toris, who shook his head frantically. You slowly look behind you. “How ‘bout yellow--no, not yellow. Yellow and snow? Brrrr... no go. Am I right?”

“Ahh!” You yelp, kicking the head off the snowman. Ivan catches the head and looks down at it (her) confused.

“Hey!” You were still trying to process the familiar voice.

“You are creepy.” Ivan smiled, a bit darkly, before setting her head back on her body.

“Thanks!” She replied, adjusting her head a little.

“You are welcome.”

“Now I’m perfect.” You look over her, before getting an idea.

“Well, almost.” You dig in Ivan’s satchel, before you pull out a carrot. You’re about to put the carrot on, but something causes the snowman to rush forward, causing the carrot to go through her head completely.

“Whoa! Head rush!” She yelped.

“Oh! Too hard. I’m sorry! I-I, I was just.... Are you okay?” The snow(wo)man sees her nose and lights up.

“Are you kidding me? I am wonderful! Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for one of these?!” She asked, inspecting her nose. You reach around the back of her head and push the carrot forward, making it come out fully. “What? Hey! Whoa. Oh, I love it even more! Hah.... All right, let’s start this thing over. Hi everyone. I’m Jxk.”

“Jxk?!” You exclaimed.

“Yeah, that’s what I said.” She winks at you when Ivan and Toris weren’t noticing and you tried to process what she meant by that. “And who’s the funky-looking donkey over there?”

“That’s Toris.”

“Uh-huh. And who’s the reindeer?”

“...Toris.” She looks at the two of them, humor flickering through her eyes.

“Makes things easier for me.” Toris tentatively steps forward, trying to bite her nose. “Ha. Aw, look at him. I like you, too!”

“Jxk, did Elizabeta build you?” You asked.

“Yeah. Why?” You watched as Ivan curiously took off one of her twig arms, studying it. The arm moves in sync with her other arm. “Do you know where she is?”

“Fascinating...” Ivan said, quietly.

“Yeah. Why?” Jxk asked.

“Do you think you could show us the way?” You asked.

“Yeah. Why?” Ivan bends her arm a little.

“How does this work?” Jxk glares at him, before the arm slaps him across the face.

“Stop it, Toris. Trying to focus here.” She rolled her eyes, before looking to you. “Yeah, why?”

“I will tell you why. We need Elizabeta to bring back summer.” Ivan answered, a dark aura coming over him. Probably pissed off with Jxk.

“Summer?” Jxk brightens. “Oh, I don’t know why but I’ve always loved the idea of summer, and sun, and all things hot.”

“Really? I’m guessing you don’t have much experience with heat.” Ivan chuckled darkly.

“Nope. But sometimes I like to close my eyes and imagine what it’d be like when summer does come.” Welp, looks like Jxk’s gets a song. You weren’t complaining though, it was a good song.
