Chapter 9 – Gilbert’s Successful Plan
“No, I won't let you.” You glared, as the Canadian shrunk back. Your dad emerged from the doorway.
“___?” He looked to you questioningly.
“Ah, (Father’s Name). Tell us again, old man, just how big was the beast?” Someone asked from the crowd. Your father struggled to answer.
“Well, he was... that is... enormous. I'd say at least eight, no, more like ten feet.” The crowd laughs at his failed attempts to explain.
“Well, you don't get much crazier than that.”
“It's true, I tell you!” The asylum man flicked his wrist and some fellow asylum employees came up, grabbing your father and beginning to drag him to the wagon.
“Let go of me!” Your father shouted.
“No, you can't do this!” The head asylum worker ignored you and walks away. Suddenly, Gilbert appears by your side.
“Poor ___. It's an unawesome shame about your father.” He said, sympathetically.
“You know he's not crazy, Gilbert.” You looked to him with a bit of hope.
“The awesome me might be able to clear up this little misunderstanding, if...” He trailed off.
“If what?” You asked.
“If you marry me.” He answered.
“What?”
“One little, awesome word, ___. That's all it takes.” He smirked a little.
“Never!” You glared at him.
“Have it your way.” He turned, walking away slowly. You watch your father be thrown into the wagon, when you remembered something.
“___?” Your dad called as you ran into the house. “Let go of me!”
“My dad's not crazy and I can prove it!” You shout running back out with the magic mirror. You look to its reflected surface. “Show me Ludwig!”
The mirror shines brightly once more, as it faded into an image of a depressed looking Ludwig. The crowd stares at the magical mirror in wonder and amazement.
“Is it dangerous?” Someone asked.
“Oh, no. He'd never hurt anyone.” You try to reassure the women. “Please, I know he looks vicious, but he's really kind and gentle. He's my… friend.”
“If the awesome me didn't know better, I'd think you had feelings for this monster.” Gilbert scoffed.
“He's no monster, Gilbert. You are!” You snapped.
“She's as crazy as her vatti.” Gilbert swipes the mirror from your hand. “The beast will make off with your children! He'll come after them in the night!”
“No!” You tried to stop him.
“We're not safe 'til his head is mounted on my wall! I say we kill the beast!” The mob cheers and repeats the words “kill him”.
“We're not safe until he's dead!”
“He'll come stalking us at night!”
“Set to sacrifice our children to his monstrous appetite!”
“He'll wreak havoc on our village, if we let him wander free.”
“So it's time to take some action, boys. It's time to follow me!” Gilbert grabs and throws a torch into a haystack, creating an instant bonfire. He paced around it, warning the mob of what the beast could do. “Through the mist, through the woods, through the darkness and the shadows, it's a nightmare but its one exciting ride. Say prayers, then we’re there at the drawbridge of a castle, and there's something truly terrible inside.”
“It's a beast. He's got fangs, razor sharp ones. Massive paws, killer claws for the feast.” Gilbert holds up the mirror, exaggerating about the distinct features of Ludwig that could kill people. “Hear him roar, see him foam, but we're not coming home, 'til he's dead, good and dead, kill the beast!”
“No, I won't let you do this!” You interjected.
“If you're not with us, you're against us. Bring her father.” Some men grab your father and drag him over.
“Get your hands off me!” He shouted. Gilbert grabbed your arm and marched you over to the basement door. Some other men opened it and your father and you were tossed in.
“We can't have them running off to warn the creature!” Gilbert smirked, before shutting and locking the basement door.
“Let us out!” You banged against the door, hopelessly. You run to a window and begin to try and pry it open it with a stick.
“I have to warn the beast. This is my entire fault. Oh, Dad. What are we going to do?” You collapsed down in defeat. There was not a fast enough way out.
“Now, now. We'll think of something.” Your father comforted you. He then looked up and his eyes widened.
“What the devil? ___, look out!” Your dad pulled you out of the way, as an axe came through the door of the basement. A red cloud of smoke fills the room as something breaks down the whole door. It takes a moment for the smoke to thin, but as soon as it does, you see a familiar cup swinging on a loose spring, the wreckage of your father’s invention all around him.
“You guys gotta try this thing.” Peter laughed.

Your horse plowed through the forest as you raced to the castle. Your heartbeat sped up as the castle came into view, but it dropped when you saw two figures fighting on the rooftop. Well, it was mostly just one person beating up the other and you had a pretty good idea who was who. The figure, which you knew was Gilbert, began to raise a spiked-club looking weapon above Ludwig’s head. You stop on the bridge to the castle and shouted.
“No!” It took a couple seconds, but it seemed that Ludwig heard you. He had turned from being depressed and emotionless to hopeful and filled with new joy in seconds. Gilbert, who you now saw was hooded and couldn’t see his face, began to bring down his weapon. “Gilbert, don't!”
Gilbert swung down, but Ludwig caught the weapon in his hand with ease. He stood up, roaring into Gilbert’s face. Gilbert’s hood was blown off and Ludwig’s eyes seemed to widen, but before he could comprehend it, Gilbert began to fight him, again. Without anymore hesitation, you quickly headed into the castle.

Francis sat at a table in a dark room only illuminated by a single candle on the small table with his bird Pierre on his shoulder. He heard a door open then slam shut followed by heavy footsteps,'Perfect. About time he showed up.' In walked in Ivan Bragniski (I'm so sorry I probably spelled that horribly) if Francis was the most handsome man in all the village then, Ivan was the scariest and craziest. Speaking of crazy he was in charge of the Mental Hospital where the people of the village would send whom ever they thought was crazy enough to go. Ivan had light blonde hair, indigo eyes,a almost permanent innocent smile that hid all the cr

You were on Berwald's saddle as he quickly ran towards the castle were he had lost your father. You were silently praying he was okay and alive, when you reached the castle you were intimidated by it's menacing demeanor. Lightening started to light up the sky and it started to pour rain as you quickly walked Berwald inside the courtyard in front of the castle, you tied Berwald to the trunk of a large oak so that he would be shielded from the pouring rain.
You pulled your shawl over your head and ran into the castle. You looked around and saw a grand stair case and dozens of rooms against the long hall leading up to them."H-Hello? Is a

The mirror began to buzz and flash, then instead of seeing your worried face, it changed to the snowy forest outside and your father. He was slumped over a tree coughing furiously, his skin looked almost blue, his usually blonde hair was now so pale it almost looked white and his emerald green eyes were faded and tired looking. The mirror changed back to your now teary face, you bit your lip trying to suppress the sobs. Tears started to stream down your face and your shoulders shook, "H-He's so s-sick, a-and there is nothing I can d-do, he's g-going to die and I-I'll never see him again," you sobbed, "Yes, you will..." Lutz gloomily said.
